The hub world needs some serious attention. There’s almost no real incentive to check the other vendors other than the sortie vendor. There is a home base that you can spend time in, but there’s nothing to do there. Playing as a Mobile Suit has some good gameplay feel, but it can get repetitive quickly. There is however lots of fun to be had in this kind of mode. Other than that, it doesn’t offer too much in terms of content. There is only really one multiplayer game mode in Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 2. It is by far no Titanfall 2 and would benefit greatly from following its example of fluidness of pilot and suit combat You spend a good majority of the time as a pilot and it doesn’t get the same treatment of perks or used properly. But the actual combat and gameplay is much less fun, and pilot to pilot combat is extremely unpolished. Because no one suspects you can be easily undetected do all the capture points. I will say that playing as the pilot is both underutilized and needs serious work. While mostly just cosmetic changes for the die-hard fans, this amount of choice of Mobile Suits is quite well received.

The sheer variety of mobile suits and armaments you can equip is actually staggering. Once you engage in Battle Operation 2, it’s difficult to pull out unless your team is there to back you up. Because movement and shooting all must be very precise, you actually need to plan your movements in advance. It’s surprisingly clunky and not as versatile as you’d expect, however. The game simulates a really great feeling of controlling a huge robot. Fighting in your Mobile Suit feels pretty awesome. The rest focuses on the actual robot fighting. Usually its capture the flag or plant the bomb that’s done by the pilot ejecting from the Mobile Suit. Battle Operation 2 has you fight in space or ground against any enemy team for objectives. Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 2 is a 6v6 multiplayer team battle with mobile suits from the franchise. I’ve had so many clipping issues, especially in pilot mode, that I’m looking for the next one. The game has quit multiple times or crashed when loading into the game or match. But I’ve encountered more than my fair share of glitches and start-up issues. The sound design and weight of the Mobile Suits are fantastic, ripped straight from the source material. There is a lack of a narrative due to it being exclusively multiplayer, so expect no single-player campaign. There is a certain level of fun to be had in the game that makes its presentation a serious charm. Overall, Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 2 does have a good art style that feels unique to itself. The play-spaces and arenas are fun to brawl in, but visually they are fairly poor, even by 2019 standards. However, graphics are overall rather lackluster, with extremely little texture to be found anywhere. This attention to detail on franchise favorite suits gives a larger-than-life feeling stomping around the battlefield. There is definitely care taken into the design of each Gundam, with lore explaining it, expanding their in-game presence. But I was surprised seeing actually how well the Mobile Suits translated in the game. As a result, my lower expectations dropped even further. Most of the gameplay footage I had seen on Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 2 was initially on the PlayStation 4. The game has fun enough combat for anyone to play, so let’s get to reviewing Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 2. Seeing potential in a free-to-play mecha brawler featuring the famous Mobile Suit Gundam franchise, I suited up.
